Alabama officials will announce at a news conference today an $11 million expansion at Montgomery medical equipment manufacturer Steris Corp. that is expected to create 120 new jobs for the area, along with saving the 270 current jobs at the site.
According to the Montgomery Advertiser, construction on a 300,000-square-foot facility is expected to start by Aug. 1, with the expansion scheduled to be in operation by the end of next year.
A project agreement unanimously approved earlier this week by the Montgomery County Commission indicates that at least 40 new hires are scheduled to be on board by June 30, 2013, and at least 80 new workers will be employed by June 30, 2014.
