College football: Former players say Weis? description fit 1-11 team

Friday July 26, 2013 5:09 AM

Two members of last year?s Kansas team, which coach Charlie Weis called a ?pile of crap? this week, wholeheartedly agreed.

Defensive back Bradley McDougald ? a native of Dublin ? and fullback Toben Opurum said they came up with the same evaluation of a team that won one game.

?That?s what it was, truth be told,? said Opurum, who along with McDougald is trying to make the NFL?s Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. ?He may have been able to word it differently ??

When Weis was asked about how he has managed to recruit so well after beating only South Dakota State last season, he said, ?I said (to recruits), ?Have you looked at that pile of crap out there? ? So if you don?t think you can play here, where do you think you can play????

McDougald, a Scioto graduate, said he was offended ?to an extent,? but he pointed out that Kansas did go 1-11.

?So it was a crap season,? he said.
