We started off with paint, which I'll share more of the colors we chose in another post. Painting is expensive if you don't do it yourself - we have very quickly learned. Luckily, we were all in agreement that the initial cost was worth it in order to get it all taken care of prior to moving in.
So, back to that bathroom.
The kids will share a Jack and Jill bath (each have their own sides with sinks, they just share the shower and potty in between). When we arrived the baths were a peach color with a dark rust ceiling.
Dark. Dark. Dark. The previous owners were firm believers in painting your ceilings darker than your walls, which I just do not get.
The lighting fixtures did nothing for me, especially for kids' baths. They looked something like this:
So here's the plan to change it up, brighten it up and make it cute for the kiddos.
Paint color:
We opted to do the same neutral grey for all parts of the baths. I can easily accessorize each side with whatever color I please using towels, rugs, etc. It's a step lighter from what we'll be putting in HUT's room.
Lighting:
There are bronze fixtures in the baths which I'm not going to change, so I searched around online to find some cute fixtures for both sides of the bath. I wanted something feminine for Ellie and a bit more masculine for HUT.
I purchased hand towels at Ikea in these colors for each side:
The shared shower/toilet area will just have white towels and I haven't gotten rugs yet, but we are on our way!
Once it's all together I'll share the after photos. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for the accessories just yet, and that might take some time because we are going to be doing essential things to the house first and then slowly spending money on detail items as the months go by!
